Located in Burgundy between Paris and Lyon, the city of Dijon is home to the University of Burgundy’s main campus, with several others that spread across the region. uB is a public and multidisciplinary establishment which offers 400 different degrees across all levels (Bachelor, Master, and PhD), employs 6,000 staff members and external collaborators, and enrols 35,000 students, among whom are more than 2,900 international students.

With its 32 research units, uB is involved in world leading research with six particular areas of excellence:

  1. food and environment,
  2. health and molecular engineering,
  3. photonics and advanced materials,
  4. learning and care,
  5. heritage and territories,
  6. wine and vine.

The University of Burgundy is part of the Université Bourgogne Franche-Comté community and figures at ARWU, CWUR and THE rankings.

The Engineering school ISAT is the 1st Engineering school in France specialized in aeronautics, mechanics and automotive in the Eduniversal Ranking.


The university owns a vineyard on the famous UNESCO protected wine area and produces over 10,000 bottles per year, which received several awards.

A UNESCO Chair Culture and Traditions of Wine was founded in October 2006 at the university.


For students, specific measures (timetable adjustments depending on the course of study, teaching support / tutoring) are put in place as soon as they arrive at the university.
