During the Covid-19 pandemic, public attention is distributed unequally and the risk of overlooking some of the most affected is high. With this event we want to focus on migrants, who are often underprivileged anyway, and in many cases the crisis hits them differently or harder than non-migrant groups. Apart from the health risks of the virus, we concentrate especially on the multidimensional effects of lockdowns, border closures and other containment measures.

Our aim is to show, from an interdisciplinary perspective, examples of where fundamental rights are violated, how existing discrimination is increasing and what counter strategies individuals and organisations have developed against that. We will compare local contexts in Finland, Germany, Italy, Poland, Spain, and the United Kingdom among others. In addition to the scientific contributions that provide insights from current research, practical perspectives will also be a part of some of the inputs. We encourage active participation and discussion.

The details of the programme can be found in the attached announcement.
